The word is out— Reyna Rupani, head of Sharan Mumbai reveals that veganism is marking its presence everywhere—with new food products hitting the market, celebrities sharing their vegan journeys, meat and dairy companies switching to plant based alternatives, and plant-based restaurants sprouting up everywhere. Here is just some of the reasons people are going vegan.
HEALTH
Eating food that is suitable to our species and eating it in the most complete form possible is the healthiest for us. Whole plantbased and organic food is the most natural and healthiest for our species. While the global planetary shift to plant-based diets is encouraging news, it remains a reality that there are still many out there yet to embrace veganism. It’s not surprising then that so many people in their fifties and under are suffering from lifestyle diseases, and what’s alarming is the fact that these diseases are setting in at very early ages.
THE ENVIRONMENT
It’s long been known that eating animals or their secretions takes up more resources in terms of land, water, and energy. Currently, animal agriculture produces more greenhouse gases than all the vehicles on the planet. Switching to a plant-based diet is the best thing you can do for the environment.
MAKE THE SHIFT
At the risk of causing yourself some discomfort, make the shift, at least for a 30 day trial period. Let go of all your long held perceptions, rise above the conventional behavioral patterns that we have been told are good for us. Veganism is not about deprivation, it is about doing what is best for the environment, animals, and, if done correctly, for your health too.
