“Recently, one of our facility Lifecare Hospital, Baniyas, situated on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi, reported a young male patient in the Hospital’s emergency department with semi-consciousness and agitation. After performing the related diagnostic studies the patient was primarily diagnosed to have intracranial hemorrhage and was referred to the other tertiary care facility – Burjeel Hospital within the VPS Healthcare network,” added Dr. Yasmine Maher Ahmed, Medical Director and Head of Radiology Department, Lifecare Hospital, Baniyas.
The real time imaging communication system-PACS enabled the Hospital’s team to review the case and prepare before patient arrival. Immediately on arrival, he was shifted to ICU and stabilized in treatment line. The advanced inter-hospital digital communication setup not only accelerated treatment procedure, but also helped in saving life.
“Another distinctive benefit of PACS is collaboration among Radiologists and auditing on quality of reporting. With a team of over 25 Radiologists from different super-specialties, VPS has exceptional advantages of sub specialty and second opinion reporting on a real time basis using PACS,” said Mr. Vinay Batra, CEO-Diagnostic Services, VPS Healthcare.
