Abu DhabiUAE: 07th October, 2015: VPS Healthcare, an integrated healthcare solution provider with a network of hospitals and chain of Medical Centers has upgraded its diagnostic Imaging facilities across all units with unique technology Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) which provide a centralized repository for all imaging data and deliver diagnostic images and radiology reports electronically to the clinicians at the point-of-care unified with HIS (Hospital Information System)

Apart from Medical Talent, use of emerging technology has always differentiated VPS Healthcare from other service providers. As technology progresses, so does our ability to detect and respond to diseases in a timely and effective manner.

“Advancement in technology is evident throughout all medical disciplines, however Radiology is almost 100% technology driven. In addition to enhancements in the clinical workflow and productivity, PACS has improved patient care dramatically by providing timely access to Radiologists and specialists regardless of geography,” said Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Managing Director, VPS Healthcare.

“Recently, one of our facility Lifecare Hospital, Baniyas, situated on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi, reported a young male patient in the Hospital’s emergency department with semi-consciousness and agitation. After performing the related diagnostic studies the patient was primarily diagnosed to have intracranial hemorrhage and was referred to the other tertiary care facility – Burjeel Hospital within the VPS Healthcare network,” added Dr. Yasmine Maher Ahmed, Medical Director and Head of Radiology Department, Lifecare Hospital, Baniyas.

The real time imaging communication system-PACS enabled the Hospital’s team to review the case and prepare before patient arrival. Immediately on arrival, he was shifted to ICU and stabilized in treatment line. The advanced inter-hospital digital communication setup not only accelerated treatment procedure, but also helped in saving life.

“Another distinctive benefit of PACS is collaboration among Radiologists and auditing on quality of reporting. With a team of over 25 Radiologists from different super-specialties, VPS has exceptional advantages of sub specialty and second opinion reporting on a real time basis using PACS,” said Mr. Vinay Batra, CEO-Diagnostic Services, VPS Healthcare.

The latest system by Philips offers a wide image distribution solution that empowers clinicians to have immediate access to diagnostic-quality images anytime and anywhere. Designed by clinicians, this unique system provides a real-time overview of patient’s clinical history timeline and links to relevant studies.

“It is our continuous endeavor to serve the patients better and to bring healthcare of International standards within the reach of every individual,” said Dr. Shamsheer.

“VPS has brought into the Emirates the best that the world has to offer in terms of technology and we certainly believe that going forward, use of emerging technologies in Medical field will not only provide better diagnostic capabilities but will ultimately shorten the duration of treatment,” he added.
