The ZAYN X VERSUS capsule collection is a true collaboration between two icons – the attitude of Zayn’s personal style with the energy of today’s Versus tribe.
The collection will debut on June 19th at Versus stores worldwide, as well as at versusversace.com, with a percentage of the net profits donated to charity.
Zayn has worked closely with Artistic Director Donatella Versace to create a collection for both women and men, capturing the essence of how Zayn and his friends dress right now. It’s about the attitude of the street, a mix of sports and functionality, playing with proportion and the individuality of customization.
The mood is encapsulated perfectly in the ZAYN X VERSUS campaign, featuring Bella Hadid and Zayn caught in natural, informal settings. Often the images are made up of collages, as if caught on Polaroid camera.
“When I see this collection, I see Zayn. His attitude, his energy and his individuality are in every single piece. I am so proud of what we have achieved together. The campaign defines everything I love about the new generation today. ” Donatella Versace
“When I was a kid growing up in Bradford, England, wearing knock-off Versace, I never thought that one day I would actually be designing my own collection. Thanks so much to Donatella Versace for allowing me to do the coolest thing ever.” Zayn
Every piece is an essential, in Zayn’s preferred colour palette of khaki green, wine, black and white, with splashes of red. Zip-up bomber jackets are crucial to Zayn’s look for women and men. Functionality makes its mark with a men’s oversized parka that’s like perfect uniform for the city streets.
Athleticism has edge, like the women’s bra-top, track pants and T-shirt dress trimmed with ZXV lettering, or a sporty take on the slip dress that’s trimmed with ZXV under the chest. For men there are technical sweat tops that read ZXV down the arm, as well as technical pique leggings that can go from gym to street.
Zayn loves creativity that’s spontaneous: Versus patches are as if hand-stitched throughout the collection, while a ZXV print has letters created from tape. Details are everything, like the jumbo lacing that runs down the side of women’s skinny jeans or eco-leather pants. Eco-leather jackets have been graffiti-ed, then embroidered on the back with energized takes on Zayn’s name and the VERSUS logo.
Accessories capture the functional and athletic mood, like the backpacks and gym bags covered in black-on-black Versus patches.
