Under His Excellency, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Muhairi, Director of Sharjah Health Authority and Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees, University Hospital Sharjah, in cooperation with Indian Cultural Society and Sharjah Blood Transfusion Center, Ministry of Health conducted a blood donation campaign themed “Save a Life, Give Blood” on Friday May 29th. This is the recent drive by the University Hospital Sharjah to encourage and facilitate blood donation in the emirate and is the latest community based event organized to foster a positive change in society by creating awareness for the need of safe blood and blood products and thanking the volunteers for their life-saving support.
The blood donation campaign is aimed at educating the community of the simple, safe, quick and painless blood donation procedure outlining its enormous benefits.
Dr. Abdul Aziz AlMuhairi, Director of Sharjah Health Authority and Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees, University Hospital Sharjah, said; “Blood donation is the only act of charity and a gift that one can offer to mankind that saves lives where money fails and hence, the donors were encouraged to participate in this drive to support the importance of human life. University Hospital Sharjah called for people in good health, especially young people to join and also motivated regular donors to donate blood to help those in need of regular and rare blood groups highlighting the essence of this noble deed.”
Many enthusiastic donors from UAE participated to make this event successful. University Hospital Sharjah received a total of 142 registered participants for the event.
