Organisation’s Collage Talent Centre holds ‘The Role of Family in Education’ classes

Sharjah, February 22, 2017” Mums looking for some help to handle their little ones’ challenging behaviour are able to receive some expert guidance thanks to Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC). As part of its vision to promote social inclusion and community cohesion, the organisation’s Collage Talent Centre organises a special training course on February 22-23, providing parents with support in dealing with stressful episodes created by their children.
Themed: ‘The Role of Family in Education,’ the two-day workshop at the Collage Talent Centre Library – SLC’s hive of creativity and learning – featured Hamsa Younes who addressed behavioural and emotional issues relating to children, such as how to manage their anger and how to inculcate positive behaviour throughout the different phases of their lives.
Held at SLC’s headquarters in Sharjah, the course focused on situations that can trigger negative emotions, such as clear or repressed anger, as well as discussed children’s relationships with family members and peers. It provided mothers with training on behaviour management techniques and taught them how they can show their children how to recognise unpleasant situations and how to effectively respond to them.
The training course also addressed the influence of the Internet, video games and digital devices on children’s temperament and attention spans, discussing the amount of engagement that children should have with modern technology and the level of exposure that is considered healthy throughout the different phases of their childhood.
The Role of Family in Education training course forms part of a programme of social activities organised and hosted by SLC’s Collage Talent Centre, which also functions to discover the talents and develop the skills of SLC’s members and visitors. The centre was established to be the perfect venue for promoting and nurturing artistic talent through its provision of a variety of classes, which include pottery making, jewellery making, ceramic flower arrangement, art, music, cooking, etiquette, and more.
Established in 1982, SLC is a subsidiary of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs that is chaired by Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah. The club is dedicated to facilitating leisure and educational activities for women and children, providing them with a relaxed and nurturing place where they can learn, enjoy sports and cultivate their favourite hobbies.
