Saint Joseph University (SJU), the Dubai branch of the 140-year old educational institute first established in Beirut, has announced scholarships for outstanding high school students applying to the University’s well-regarded law programme.
The scholarship scheme covers up to 50 percent of university fees and gives high performing students access to one of the region’s most prestigious law schools. SJU Dubai has one of the region’s strongest faculties of law, which was established under a Government of Dubai Programme for leadership development. The Programme aims to prepare a generation of UAE nationals to assume positions of responsibility in legal affairs.
The scholarship scheme targets high school students in the UAE and GCC, and specifically reaches out to government employees and regional police and security forces. The SJU Dubai curriculum shadows the didactic principles of the Beirut campus but is carefully tailored to the legal frameworks prevalent in the UAE and GCC.
“Our scholarships create a unique opportunity for high potential students to access one of the region’s most prestigious law schools. This initiative meets two goals. First, it helps SJU Dubai attract the brightest Arab minds in the region to become a de facto leader in the generation and dissemination of new legal knowledge. Second, it creates a generation of young people who are capable of supporting the socio-economic development of the UAE and GCC by assuming positions of responsibility and expertise in comparative, local and international law said Dr. Nisrine Abiad, the director of USJ Dubai Campus.
USJ Dubai also holds a full licensure and its law program is accredited from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Abu Dhabi. The University relies on contemporary didactic methodologies combined with instruction in Arabic with exposure to English.
The University’s academic year starts in September, and admissions are now open for 2015/2016.
