ProVita Celebrates Five Years of Success with Abu Dhabi Facility Expansion

ProVita 5th Anniversary CelebrationsAbu Dhabi, UAE, March 16, 2016: ProVita International Medical Center, pioneer of long-term care for ventilation-dependent patients in the UAE, has inaugurated the second phase of its Abu Dhabi facility as it celebrates its fifth year of improving the Quality of Life of patients and their families in the capital.

The expansion adds 30 beds to the existing 42 in ProVita’s state-of-the-art facility in Khalifa City A, Abu Dhabi. Combined with the 48 beds in the Center’s Al Ain facility, ProVita can now accommodate up to 120 residents across the emirate who require professional medical care around the clock due to injury, congenital disease, or chronic illness. The facility also features 24/7 ambulance and intensive care unit (ICU) coverage for its residents with highly trained physicians, as well as dedicated areas for occupational, physical, respiratory, and speech therapy.  The Center also has a hemodialysis service for residents who have kidney failure.

“Over the past five years, we’ve helped more than 175 Emiratis and residents across the UAE move out of the ICU and into a more nurturing, home-like environment,” said ProVita CEO Michael Davis. “We pride ourselves in being able to provide our residents with the specialized, tailored clinical and rehabilitative care they need at the global standards for which, until recently, they would have had to travel to the US or Europe to receive. We’ve allowed patients to come back home, closer to their families and loved ones, which has had an immeasurably positive effect on the quality of their lives.”

Dr. B R Shetty, Executive Vice-Chairman and CEO of NMC Health, which acquired ProVita last year, said: “ProVita follows the guidance of the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, who emphasized the importance of providing quality healthcare for one and all. NMC Healthcare was established on that very same principle and I’m happy to see the patients and their families whose quality of lives have been improved by their stay at ProVita.”

Abdallah has now been discharged home and it is unbelievable to have him close to us again.’’

Patients who typically require the long-term care provided at ProVita include those with certain genetic neuromuscular disease, such as multiple sclerosis (MS) or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS); those who have been injured in accidents; and those who have suffered from stroke. ProVita’s holistic approach sees its multidisciplinary team of accredited and specialist physicians, therapists, and nurses combine social and cultural therapies with clinical care in a residential atmosphere to improve its residents’ Quality of Life. Through specialist care at the center, patients have been able to attend school, go to restaurants, make family visits, make the Haj pilgrimage and even go to Disneyland.
