Participants will be able to cycle across the rugged areas of the island and pass elegant gazelles and Arabian oryx before setting up their tents for a camping adventure in an exotic and unique atmosphere.

Sir Bani Yas Island is known for its bountiful nature and authentic wildlife. However, the island has much more to offer than that. Large salt dome hilltops dominate the middle of Sir Bani Yas Island and provide the excellent terrain for hiking and mountain biking. The peaks are made of vertical cylinders of salt that are over 6 kilometres deep and 3 kilometres wide and are thought to be the world’s largest salt dome mountains. The cylinders were created up to 10 million years ago by the evaporation of salt water and today, the salt attracts many of the island’s gazelles who supplement their feed with important minerals.

The Mountain Biking and Camping Weekend will commence on Friday, 29th April at 1:45pm from Jebel Dhanna Sir Bani Yas Island jetty. Cyclists must be ready with their bikes and camping gear, before the group will make their way over to Sir Bani Yas Island to start cycling 30 kilometres towards the camp site. The day will cease with a Barbeque dinner in the middle of the island’s 4,100 hectare Arabian Wildlife Park. After a night of relaxation and a vitalizing breakfast, the cyclists will part into two groups and bike for either 30 or 50 kilometres until they reunite for a swim and lunch at Anantara’s Amwaj Beach Restaurant. To conclude the weekend, the cyclists will get to enjoy the dazzling surf of Sir Bani Yas Island’s northern coast before heading back to the mainland.

The weekend is priced at AED 500++ per person including water taxi, access to the wildlife park, dinner, breakfast, lunch at the beach restaurant Amwaj, swimming and changing room facilities. Payment will be on cash basis at the camp site.
