Dubai – 25/3/2015 : HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, minister of culture, youth and community development, will open a medical conference on eye medicine and surgery in Dubai on Thursday evening.
The three-day Middle East conference at Conrad Hotel will be attended by nearly 800 doctors and other medical experts, including 65 specialists from key eye medical centers worldwide.
Dr Saleh Al Masaabi, the conference’s chairman and a consultant at Samaya Specialized centre in Abu Dhabi, said one personality would be honored at the conference as was the case in previous conferences, the first of which was held in Abu Dhabi. He said the conference on Thursday would honor Dr Yehya Al Midwahi, an eye specialist and consultant for his achievements, adding that Dr Yehya is the first and oldest Emirati eye specialist.
He said nearly 250 papers would be presented at the conference which will also include around 65 lectures on eye diseases and surgical developments.
Four global medical associations will attend the meeting for the first time, he said, adding that it would also cover latest laser eye treatment techniques.
He said a medical exhibition will be held at the conference and that 15 well known medical companies will participate.
The number of participants is increasing in comparison with the last year. This year’s participants include:
1. American society of cataract and refractive surgery
2. European society of cataract and refractive surgery
3. European vitreo retina society
4. European society of ophthalmic nurses and technicians.
