Partnership aimed towards developing the skills of health workers and help enhance the health of the community based on international standards
UAE, February 14, 2018 – The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) recently signed a strategic new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and cooperation with the European Resuscitation Council at the Ministry’s Training and Development Center in Sharjah. The agreement is aimed towards developing opportunities for further cooperation between the two parties and benefit from their expertise to promote the health and wellness of the UAE community through support and provision of health education based on the highest international standards.
The MoU was signed by Saqr Al Hemeiri, Director, Training and Development Centre, representing the ministry and Dr. Jerry Nolan, Chairman, European Resuscitation Council.
H.E Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services stressed on the importance of the MoU to provide education, training and sources of health education that are in line with the Ministry’s strategy to improve the quality of health services provided in the UAE and to promote community health by supporting education, training and health resources based on the highest international standards. The new partnership supports the progress of scientific research in the health sector to ensure the continuous training and education of the Ministry’s staff in an effort to keep abreast of the best global health and administrative practices to improve the quality of health services.
H.E added, “We look forward to strengthening cooperation and partnership frameworks with specialized European health institutions to train our medical and technical staff and to exchange information and innovative ideas with experts and specialists to improve health services in line with international best practices. As part of the Ministry’s strategy towards innovation in improving operations and services, providing comprehensive health care beyond expectations for a happy society and completing the institutional capacity to activate a world-class health training center.”
Saqr Al Hemeiri pointed to the significance of the agreement in terms of coordinating joint efforts and cooperation in holding local, regional and international conferences, seminars and workshops on recovery and cooperation in local, regional and international research projects related to recovery, as well as cooperation in public awareness and education programs on recovery and first aid–with the aim of the UAE to achieve an advanced position in the exchange of knowledge, skills and research on recovery. The MoU will also see the joint organization of conferences, seminars, events and cooperation in research, clinical and exchange of innovative technologies.
The scope of work of the MoU also covers the sessions of the council in accordance with the guidelines, rules and manuals, use of appropriate educational materials for learners and trainers, and the development of trainers linked to the Ministry for various courses provided by the Council, in accordance with training needs and quality assurance. The agreement will also cover knowledge sharing and up-to-date developments in international research, guidelines and recommendations on recovery, clinical practice and education.
Lastly, the MoU also aims to support the localization of educational materials and guidelines, the improvement of cultural and organizational needs in the UAE, the provision of scientific and educational support for the formulation of local rehabilitation guidance, providing technical and educational expertise to develop recovery and first aid programs for school students and to support the Ministry in determining research and educational priorities in the field of recovery.
