UAE, June 19, 2017 – Ministry of Health and Prevention participated, as part of the UAE delegation led by TRA, in the World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) 2017, which is the world’s largest annual gathering of the ‘ICT for development’ community. The Forum is co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD. As part of the program, the UAE delegation visited Mr. Houlin Zhao, ITU Secretary-General to brief him about the UAE ICT advancement and vision.
MOHAP represented by Mr. Ali Alajmi, Director, Information Technology Department, and Ms. Mubaraka Mubarak Ali Ibrahim, Director for Health Information Systems.
Ms. Mubaraka presented MOHAP’s healthcare IT journey since 1996, the UAE’s 2021 vision of achieving a world class healthcare system, and how patient engagement and empowerment play a key role in maintaining their well-being. She highlighted the achieved outcomes and benefits with regards to better health, affordable care and sustainable development.
Mr. Alajmi talked about the national unified medical record, which is the initiative announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to establish a national unified medical record of all UAE patients to improve the healthcare system of the entire country; he also focused on the need of NUMR, how NUMR is aligned with 2021 vision, MOHAP’s approach to ensure success and sustainability, and how this modern integrated platform will advances patient safety, quality of care, population wellness, and universal health coverage.
Many attendees joined the interactive session and got impressed with the MOHAP’s achievements and future plans keeping the patient at the center of care and aiming the UAE to be among the best healthcare systems in the world.
