Visiting doctors will provide consultations, and diagnostic and therapeutic services to the Ministry’s hospitals in the UAE
UAE, October 1, 2017 – The Ministry of Health & Prevention announced the details of the Visiting Doctors program, which will take place in the month of October 2017. Through the program, visiting doctors will provide consultations and diagnostic and therapeutic services to the Al Qassimi Hospital, Kuwait Hospital, Khorfakkan Hospital in Sharjah, Obaidallah Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah Hospital. Services offered will focus on cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, neurosurgery, and pediatric pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and neurology.
Visiting doctors will include Dr. Jean Fajadet, co-director of the Interventional Cardiology Unit at the Pasteur Clinic in Toulouse, France. He received his Medical Degree and a Diploma in Cardiology from the University Hospital of Toulouse. His areas of expertise include evaluation of new technologies in interventional cardiology. He will visit Al Qassimi Hospital from 1-2 October 2017.
Dr. Arun Kalyanasundaram works at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, United States. He completed his fellowship in Cardiology at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, in the United States. He then pursued an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. His areas of expertise include structural heart disease interventions and complex peripheral interventions. Dr. Arun will visit Al Qassimi Hospital from 2-3 October 2017.
Dr. Mohammed Atta is an Associate Professor of nephrology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. His areas of expertise include; high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease and kidney disease caused by HIV. Dr. Mohammed Atta will visit Obaidallah Hospital from 8-11 October and Al Qassimi Hospital on 12 October 2017.
Dr. Pierre Marc Bouloux is Professor of Endocrinology at the University College, Medical Royal Free Campus in London. He graduated from St. Bartholomew Medical College in London and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. His areas of expertise include: neuro-endocrinology and endocrinology in adolescents. Dr. Pierre Marc Bouloux will visit Fujairah Hospital from 10-12 October 2017
Dr. Anastassios Koumbourlis is the head of the Division of Lung Disease and Sleep Medicine in the National Children’s Health System, Washington, DC. He completed his residency in Pediatrics and Lung Disease in Children and Critical Care Fellowship at renowned university hospitals in the United States. His areas of expertise include asthma, cystic fibrosis, infant apnea and pneumonia. He will be visiting Fujairah Hospital from 15-16 October and Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah from 17-18 October 2017.
Dr. Olivier Varenne is Professor of Cardiology and Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Cochin Hospital, René Descartes University, Faculty of Medicine, Paris. Dr. Olivier Varenne received a Diploma in Cardiology from the University of Paris XI. His areas of expertise include interventional cardiology. Dr. Olivier Varenne will visit Al Qassimi Hospital from October 15 – 19, 2017.
Dr. Essa Pekka is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Physician of Spinal Surgery at the Helsinki Hospital of Finland. He completed his medical training and received his doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Turku, Finland. His areas of expertise include: spinal surgery, neurosurgery therapy for pain and convulsion, and emergency neurosurgery. Dr. Essa Pekka will visit Fujairah Hospital from 16-19 October 2017.
Dr. Richard Quinton is a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals in the UK. He graduated from the University of Cambridge and completed his endocrinology training in London and the Netherlands. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. His areas of expertise include: general endocrinology and diabetes. Dr. Quinton will visit Kuwait Hospital from 22-24 October 2017
Dr. Tesfaye Zelleke is a pediatric neurologist at the National Children’s Medical Center in Washington, D.C. After completing his pediatric training, he completed his residency in neuroscience and neurophysiology at New York University. His areas of expertise include epilepsy. Dr. Tesfaye Zelleke will visit Fujairah Hospital on 24-25 October and Khorfakkan Hospital on 26 October 2017.
Dr. Clarivet Torres is an internationally recognized expert in gastrointestinal diseases in children. She is currently working at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC, United States. She completed her Fellowship in Gastroenterology for Children at the Creighton School of Medicine, United States. Her areas of expertise include intestinal failure, and intestinal malrotation. She will be visiting Fujairah Hospital on 30-31 October and Al Qassimi Hospital on 1-2 November 2017.
