Market Outside the Box (MOTB) returns this week from the 11 – 20 January, giving shoppers the chance to shop some of Dubai’s more unique retail concepts.
The annual market will feature 120 emerging and talented regional designers, shining a spotlight on some of the best homegrown and artisanal products from independent retailers across the city.
From textiles and fashion including handwoven scarves to original and eclectic jewellery collections, there will be a wide selection of beautiful pieces for fashionistas to discover at this year’s MOTB. Health conscious shoppers looking to improve their nutrition, can browse a range of meal plan companies, such as MySixPak and Tania’s Teahouse and for shoppers hoping to spruce up their homes, retailers such as The Bowery Company and Origins Collective will be showcasing some of their iconic soft furnishings and home accessories to help residents update their living space.
In addition to the exciting selection of retailers at this year’s MOTB, there will be a whole host of activities such as Pilate classes and an outdoor cinema, as well as entertainment including a mesmerizing magician, hip hop performances and a DJ. Not forgetting the mini shoppers, there will be some very special bedtime story-reading sessions for kids to enjoy each night.
Here, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), has revealed some of the outstanding brands who will be at MOTB 2018. The free-to-enter market is located at Burj Park, and will open between 4pm – 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 10pm on weekends.

Deborah Henning
The Deborah Henning label creates a beautiful mix of playful, androgynous womenswear, which is based on the concept of casual perfection. Harnessing the ‘just out of bed’ look in a subtle and sensual manner whilst keeping a refined and unforced styling attitude. Eman Design
Eman Design is an Egyptian jewellery brand, offering; handmade, designer jewellery. Its founder Eman Banna originally studied architecture, which continues to influence her designs. She creates minimal, contemporary pieces, all of which are locally produced in Egypt and finished in-house.
The brand concept is taking jewellery beyond being a luxury and making design and beauty accessible to everyone. In 2017 a new line was added to the brand under the name of FLAW; offering genuine leather bags and jewellery inspired by visual elements in the Egyptian culture, and designed to give users space to express themselves through what they wear.
House of Fatam
House of Fatam is a contemporary Emirati label based out of Dubai. It is the epitome of effortless ethereal fashion celebrated through the love of prints and unique hand embroidery. Each collection has a backdrop story and is inspired by various elements ranging from fairy tales to the designers’ home city of Dubai. Randoushka
Randoushka is a UAE based brand started in 2013. Offering casual, modern abayas, comfortable, chic and colorful pieces, all inspired by travelling between the east and the west using fabrics are imported from Turkey, India, Thailand, Korea, and Jordan. Each of the designs are influenced by the local region and contemporary fashion styles.
Satami
‘Burqa Babes by Satami’ was born out of the love of burqas and all things Emirati. These contemporary designs add a modern twist to the traditional Emirati heritage in a fun and unique way.
