Dubai, United Arab Emirates; 6 February 2018: Lumina Capital Advisers Ltd. (“LUMINA”), the specialist mid-market corporate finance firm, launches The Healthcare Network (THN) by successfully advising on the structuring and securing of the capital required for its launch. THN will provide the opportunity for independent operators in the primary healthcare sector to unite under an innovative new healthcare platform that will provide essential group support and strategic positioning to form a key player in the regional healthcare landscape.
George Traub, Founder and Managing Partner of LUMINA, commented: “We have structured an innovative deal for this landmark transaction and secured capital commitments for its operations. This is our second successful deal in the short time span of six months, bringing our deal total to seven in the last 36 months – a significant milestone for LUMINA that cements our growing recognition as the premier corporate finance firm for owner-managed businesses in the Middle East region.”
He added: “The Healthcare Network marks one of many key positive strides for the local healthcare industry. Its creation is borne by a recognisable need in the market for clinics and other independent healthcare establishments to credibly compete with the larger medical institutional groups on a level playing field. We continue to work closely with the founders and investors of THN and are delighted to be appointed as a retained adviser to THN. We are excited by the significant opportunities this presents in the region and are delighted to be a part of the industry’s continued and rapid development.”
THN has asked Mark Adams, Chairman of LUMINA, to serve as Executive Chairman of THN effective February 1st, 2018. Commenting on his appointment, Mark Adams, stated:
“I am delighted to accept the post of Executive Chairman of THN and to be working with an incredibly experienced management team on the first-of-its-kind deal for the UAE. THN is modelled after successful platforms in the UK and Europe. A similar concept will work well here with the industry growing steadily. We all know that the health insurance is now mandatory for all demographics. In an industry that primarily caters to the top end of society, we will start to see a disruption in this segment as more individuals take to benefiting from their new access to healthcare. With THN, day clinics and other similarly sized operators can benefit from cost advantages that can allow them to attract this growing audience.
He added: “LUMINA were of critical importance as a DFSA-regulated corporate finance firm, for THN’s establishment. They structured and implemented an innovative deal structure for The Healthcare Network and have been retained as ongoing advisors to THN. We aim to grow the THN platform regionally; this is one of the most compelling and innovative healthcare projects in the GCC and I am looking forward to becoming a part of this success story.”
THN aims to support a network of 50 primary healthcare operators in the UAE and 200 in Saudi Arabia from 2019 onwards.
