Emirati jewellery designer, Azza Al Qubaisi, will bring simple and traditional cuttlefish silver casting workshop on Saturday April 13 in Heart of Sharjah.
The workshop commences from 10:00 a.m. will be a perfect opportunity for aspiring artisans and jewellery designers to design and cast their own creations in silver. Qubaisi will bring in themes of sustainability and heritage by utilising materials from the local environment. She will assist participants in their exploration of the creation of a mould using cuttlefish shell, a material long prized by the jewellery-making industry for its capability to withstand high temperatures and the ease of carving on it.
Azza Al Qubaisi is an Emirati jewellery artist, sculpture and product designer, she is most often referred as the UAE’s first Emirati jewellery artist and known for public art engagements with palm branches all year round.
She is also a self-represented multi-discipline artist living and working between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, and enjoys exploration and experimenting with materials and techniques focusing on local and natural materials.
