Abu Dhabi, UAE – February 7, 2017:  Korean rising star and Chopin competition gold medallist Seong-Jin Cho, fast-gaining acclaim as one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation, today enamoured students from schools and universities across Abu Dhabi by granting access to an open rehearsal at the NYU Abu Dhabi campus. This interactive session came ahead of two spectacular concerts scheduled to take place in the Red Theatre at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi and the enchanting hospitality paradise, the Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara.

Seong-Jin Cho’s live piano session awarded young music aspirants an opportunity to listen to some of his most prolific piano solos, offering his audience members a snippet of his penchant for classical piano music. After enjoying the live rehearsal, the artist opened the floor for questions from the student body, delving into candid conversation with the students on such topics as the emergence of classical music for the younger generation. Seong-Jin chronicled his journey as a young piano soloist taking to the stage at some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw’s Master Pianists series, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and the new Seine Musicale in Paris.

On 8 February 2018, Seong-Jin will play his second piano recital in a scenic outdoor setting under the desert skies at the luxurious Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara, in a concert that comes on the eve of the 2018 Winter Olympics kick-off in his home country South Korea. Brought to the UAE under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, the star pianist is performing as part of the Abu Dhabi Classics programme, which celebrates contemporary classical music artistry through an unsurpassed line-up of concerts at some of the most distinctive locations across the emirate.

This season’s Abu Dhabi Classics programme, which runs until April 2018, is organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and produced by Flash Entertainment.
