daman22 November, Abu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesThe National Health Insurance Company, Daman, has announced that it will introduce three pioneering mobile health (mHealth) applications to coincide with UAE Innovation Week. The mobile apps have been designed to empower pregnant women and those with chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity to monitor, and where appropriate, take charge of their own wellbeing through easy-to-use and accessible technology.

Daman is dedicated to providing its members with smart choices and the highest possible level of support, comfort and convenience when it comes to healthcare.

Bayna Al Awani Chief Innovation Officer at Daman said: “We believe that the mobile health initiative is both innovative and strategic. It will improve member experience by offering a wider spectrum of new tools, advice and support along with a more versatile and flexible coach-member interaction and the facility of early detection of diseases for high-risk members. This initiative is also aligned with the government’s vision of world-class digital innovation and health care for the benefit of the community.”

Daman has strategically partnered with internationally recognised and specialised, mobile health companies to deliver these health apps to the UAE market. Named Femisphere (for pregnant ladies), One Drop (for those with diabetes) and Oviva (a personal dietician for those tackling weight issues and conditions such as type II diabetes) these apps have been adapted based on a thorough understanding of the social habits, lifestyles and culture of the people of the UAE. The applications have been enhanced to include special features for Daman members and are available in Arabic as well as English.

Femisphere is a female health companion, which enables women to identify health and pregnancy risks at an early stage. The app provides helpful tips and recommendations that have been developed in close collaboration with doctors and nurses.

It tracks common pregnancy symptoms and associated medical parameters such as weight, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. It provides a real time analysis of imminent or potential pregnancy-related complications and allows users to confidentially share their data with their personal coach for guidance.

One Drop integrates diabetes management into  users’ lifestyles, thereby empowering and motivating them to handle their condition better. Its features include simple logging of diabetes data, automated carbs counting, reminders for scheduled daily medicines, Insulin pump data and strong analytics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Oviva helps those with conditions such as obesity, diabetes and food allergies improve their health with nutritional therapy from professional dieticians.  The Oviva coach is a personal dietician, on call at the tap of a button that supports members with tailored feedback and advice to help achieve their goals.

The apps are administered to members by Daman health coaches as part of the company’s health support services.

Each of the three apps will provide Thiqa and Daman members premium features that will allow them to coordinate with Daman health coaches to get information and support required for a healthier life.

Daman and Thiqa members wishing to join the programme can contact Daman or Thiqa call centres.
