GMU Students Observe World Diabetes Day

The students of Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, the leading private medical university in the UAE owned and run by Thumbay Group, marked World Diabetes Day with a variety of programs on 3rd November 2015.

Students conducted activities stressing the importance of exercises, especially walking, and distributed pamphlets outlining the various aspects of diabetes. There were also games to spread awareness on diabetes. Random Blood Sugar Tests were conducted on around 50 people in the University campus. Informative presentations detailing the causes, symptoms, remedies and precautions of diabetes were also conducted by the students. The event was attended by GMU Provost Prof. Gita Ashok Raj and the faculty members of GMU.

World Diabetes Day (WDD) is the world’s largest diabetes awareness program, observed annually on 14th November.  The day is marked with various campaigns and events in more than 150 countries worldwide, to spread awareness of the chronic condition – diabetes.
