Abu Dhabi Classics will light up the capitals fast evolving arts and culture scene with two spectacular concerts from Korean rising star and Chopin competition gold medallist Seong-Jin Cho, and the first Emirati Ballerina Alia Al Neyadi, who will be performing alongside Donetsk Opera and Ballerina and Ballet Theatre, with Bolshoi Soloists Ivan Vasiliev & Ekaterina Krysanova.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, and organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Classics programme has so far seen overwhelming attendance from classical music enthusiasts, keen on experiencing performances at some of the most stunning locations across the emirate.

Before the season closes, here are five compelling reasons why you shouldn’t miss the last two performances of this season’s concert line up:

      1. The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi ushers in Beethoven, Debussy and Chopin. Seong-Jin Cho is set to take to the keys of his piano at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi on Wednesday 7 February, enriching the venue’s concert calendar by showcasing Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 8 and No.30, as well as additional sonatas by the artist’s muse, Chopin. Aspiring piano sensations and classical music enthusiasts are sure to be enamoured by this young pianist, fast gaining acclaim across the world for his commitment to the craft.

2. Experience a performance inspired by Beethoven’s mastery in an enchanting desert paradise. On Thursday 8 February, Seong-Jin Cho will bring his charismatic artistry and predilection of Chopin to one the emirate’s most luxurious deserts escapes, the Qasr Al Sarab Resort by Anantara. Audiences can anticipate an experience that provides a unique combination of a prolific concert venue in the heart of the Rub’Al Khaili desert, and compelling musicality from an international pianist, rapidly garnering popularity on the global classical performing arts scene.

3. The Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre’s performance is an unsurpassed production to conclude this season. This spectacular troupe of Ukraine-based performers will on Friday 20 April, bring to life the adventures of Conrad, chief of the pirates and his love interest, a young Greek woman named Medora at the majestic Emirates Palace. Classical romanticism merges with theatrical showmanship, setting the stage alight with an enthralling performance that every audience member is sure to enjoy.

4. You’ll get to watch one of the UAE’s first ballerinas perform in an enchanting palace. In a one-of-a-kind one night spectacle, Emirati Ballerina and cultural curator Alia Al Neyadi will be joining the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre at the Emirates Palace, showcasing her talent as one of the first UAE National performers to gain acclaim locally in her performing art form. A marvel to watch, the arts and culture enthusiast Alia Al Nayedi will show audiences her passion for ballet with her graceful yet provoking movements reminiscent of the Renaissance era of 19th Century Europe, in the final concert of the season.

5. Because Bolshoi Soloists Ivan Vasiliev & Ekaterina Krysanova will also be in Abu Dhabi. The last concert of the Abu Dhabi Classics 2017/2018 season promises an epic choreographed set by legendary Russian dancer and choreographer Yuri Grigorovich, which not only includes aforementioned Alia Al Neyadi, but the capital will welcome leading dancers from the renowned Bolshoi Theatre, Ivan Vasiliev and Ekaterina Krisyanova. Also performing with the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the two will bring to life the iconic dancing scenes depicting romance and adventure from Le Corsaire, a pirate tale and classical heritage ballet based on Lord Byron’s poem.

A complimentary shuttle service will be available on the 8th of February for concert attendees from Dubai and Abu Dhabi to Qasr Al Sarab, leaving Dubai at 3:25pm from Ibn Battuta Mall to the concert destination, and making its return from Qasr Al Sarab at 10.45pm for Dubai. The shuttle from Abu Dhabi will depart from Marina Mall at 4.00pm and return to Abu Dhabi at 10:45pm.
