A weekend of activities dedicated to autism including a musical flash mob

This weekend, guests at The Dubai Mall were pleasantly surprised by a flash mob musical performance which ended in a grand finale on the Dubai Ice Rink. Performing ‘Through My Eyes’, a song made famous by X-Factor contestant Scott James who is autistic, members of the Gulf Youth Chamber Music Society sang the meaningful song together with children from the Emirates Autism Society. ‘Through My Eyes’ has become an anthem for autism awareness today, and encourages people to see the world through the eyes of an autistic individual.

An engaging arts & crafts workshop was also hosted in the Souk Atrium, in partnership with the Emirates Autism Society & Robi Walters, a world-renowned artist from the UK who is also an active supporter of autism. Working together with children from the society, Robi used watercolours to help them express themselves through art.

This week, until April 21st Robi Walters will be creating one of his signature petal art pieces live in the mall, at a special stand located on the Ground Floor, outside Paris Gallery. The final artwork will be auctioned silently over Ramadan, with all proceeds donated to the Emirates Autism Society.

The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, is part of Downtown Dubai, Emaar Properties’ flagship mega-development.
