Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 1 2017: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) marked today International Labour Day by holding an appreciation ceremony to thank labourers working with the Authority for their dedication and for their contribution to the success of the organisation.
International Workers Day or Labour Day, takes place on May 1 every year to celebrate and recognise the efforts of the labour force.
His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) addressed labourers at a felicitation ceremony, which took place at the DHA headquarters. Celebrations also took place across several other DHA facilities including Nad Al Hammar primary health centre.
The ceremony honoured labourers including cleaners, messengers, security guards etc. working with the Authority. Free screening sessions took place in Nad Al Hammar primary healthcare centre. The screening included medical check-ups, dental check-ups, smoke analyser test to gauge the carbon monoxide levels of smokers, smoking cessation awareness etc.
“This day is an opportunity for us to express our gratefulness to the workers for their dedication and commitment,” said Al Qatami. “Such initiatives are crucial to demonstrate our appreciation for the work that they undertake and to help create a positive and appreciative work environment.”
At the end of the felicitation ceremony, workers received gifts and a certificate of appreciation.
