Dubai Health Authority marks Zayed Humanitarian Day

This day is marked to remember the Founding Father’s philanthropy and humanitarian work.

To mark this day, the DHA has collaborated with Dar Al Ber society to build 100 wells to provide clean drinking water to people in countries of need.

United Arab Emirates, Dubai, June 4, 2018: : Dubai Health Authority held several initiatives to mark “Zayed humanitarian Day,” an annual event held in the memory of the Founding Father of the UAE, late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Held on the 19th day of Ramadan in the Islamic year 1425, it coincides with November 2, 2004, the day Sheikh Zayed, the Founding Father of the UAE, died. Since then, the UAE as a nation has commemorated the legacy of this visionary statesman on this day every year as the Zayed Humanitarian Day.

The commemoration serves as an opportunity for the UAE to renew the philanthropic and humanitarian work launched by the Founding Father.

This year, the Zayed Humanitarian Day is even more special as it coincides with the Year of Zayed and the centennial anniversary of the birth of the Founding Father.

To mark this day, the DHA has collaborated with Dar Al Ber society to build 100 wells to provide clean drinking water to people in countries of need.

Additionally, the DHA has launched a number of initiatives including distributing food coupons for 500 families and meals during Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan. So far, meals worth AED 127,440 have been provided across DHA hospitals at Ifar.

The DHA also launched the Save a Heart initiative and so far, 25 patients have benefitted from it. The initiative cost is AED 601,709.

The DHA is also conducting a voluntary clinic in Latifa Hospital during the holy month of Ramadan that provides free gynecological consultation and surgeries worth AED 500,000. Last year, the clinic diagnosed 176 patients.

The DHA also launched the kidney initiative to help patients with financial difficulties. The DHA will cover the cost for five days of dialysis that amounts to approximately AED 7,539 per patient. The aim is to help 10 patients per month.

Patients with chronic kidney disease will receive dialysis and surgery. It will cost approximately AED 12,000 per patient and DHA will cover the cost. The aim is to help 10 patients with financial difficulties per month.

The DHA will also sponsor five ICU patients per month. The authority will cover the cost of AED 5,000 for 10 days of ICU stay per patient.

The UAE is known globally for its philanthropic work and we will continue our humanitarian initiatives to the best of our ability.”
