Dubai Health Authority felicitates more than 100 nurses who completed their training program.

• Aim of training program is to develop management competencies of healthcare staff in the nursing sector.

• More than 400 nurses completed this training program since 2014.

More than 100 nurses working with the various health entities at the DHA recently completed their training program in management and leadership.

The aim of the DHA training program is to prepare nurses to take on leadership roles in their field.

Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the DHA, said, “The growth of any organization is directly related to its leaders. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai said that a great leader creates more leaders and does not reduce the institution to a single person. We aspire to develop Dubai as an international medical hub and our work force is our backbone, therefore we understand the importance of training and leadership skills. DHA leaders have empowered nurses to undertake leadership responsibilities in order to enhance team spirit and foster growth of the sector.”

Farida Al Khaja, Director of Clinical Support Services at Dubai Hospital, said, “ Such training programs are important to help develop the workforce, it helps enhance career satisfaction, growth and helps them stay up-to-date with the latest in their field.”

Fouad Chehab, Director of Nursing at Dubai Hospital and Chairperson of the Director of Nursing Forum at DHA, said, “The training program consists of eight workshops and assignments that take place over a period of two months. The program has 40 CME hours from the medical education department at DHA and soon the program will have international affiliations. Its aim is to build the capabilities of the nursing workforce to prepare them to take on the role of nursing managers in the future. The program started in 2014 and since then more than 400 nurses have successfully completed the program.”

He added that the program includes leadership, entrepreneurial, administrative, people management skills and supportive skills.
