Mussanah, 18-19 September 2015. In collaboration with Oman Dragon Boat and Golden Dragon Dynasty General Trading, Millennium Resort Mussanah’s SUP Sprint and Dragon Boat Festival came to a close after a grueling two-day race, which saw over 120 participants compete in one of the most anticipated water sport events in the Sultanate.
300m Dragon Boat Sprint Race
- Team Vachas from Muscat won the Men’s category
- Team Desert Dragons from Abu Dhabi won the Women’s category
- Team Alpha Stingrays from Muscat won the Mixed category and the Corporate category
Tug of War Dragon Boat Challenge
- Team Desert Dragons from Abu Dhabi won the Men’s category
- Team Desert Dragons from Abu Dhabi won the Women’s category
- Team Vachas from Muscat won the Corporate category
In the International Stand Up Paddle sprint race, Marcus Sutton from Australia triumphed with a time of 9:53 for the 1 mile battle of the paddle, closely followed by Dimitrios Tsitos from Greece. The fastest duo was brothers Abudulaziz and Ali Al Marzooqi from the UAE with a record time of 10:03.
Millennium Resort Mussanah is the region’s leading sports events location, having been purpose-built for the 2nd Asian Beach Games 2010. The resort has hosted variety of events since such as FIFA Asian Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifiers 2011, the EFG Sailing Arabia-The Tour 2014, Oman Bike Week 2015 and the Tour of Oman 2015.
