DUBAI, UAE November 19, 2015: The Dr. Moopen Foundation (DM Foundation), the non-profit, charity arm of Aster DM Healthcare – a leading healthcare networks in the Middle East and India has launched the Dr. Aster Mobile Clinic in the Philippines, affirming its commitment to help the poor who need medical attention in the country.
Dr. Aster Mobile is a vehicle with advanced medical equipment aimed to be used across the country to offer free primary medical care as well as for industrial check-ups. It is built with much-needed facilities to provide diagnostic, laboratory, ultra-sound, general practitioners, consultation and first aid treatment. The mobile clinic will also be fully staffed by a doctor, nurse, radiographer and medical technologist, who are all ready to use their expertise to offer healthcare services.
Comparable to a small clinic, the Dr. Aster Mobile can do more than a typical mobile van. It houses an x-ray machine that can capture multiple types of x-ray. The van also has its own laboratory with a hemolyzer and microscope and is equipped with ECG, defibrillator and ultrasound machine, as well as an emergency stretcher bed.
The Philippine version of the Mobile Clinic was also customised to make it suitable for Philippines road conditions and is built to provide comfort and convenience to patients in all weather and site conditions, with an air conditioning unit strategically placed at the roof of the mobile, as well as its own retracting stage with canopy. Anticipating areas where there is no electricity, the van is also equipped with its own power generator.
“A significant number of our staff, throughout Aster DM Healthcare, are Filipinos who have left their country to provide care for the afflicted in the Middle East. So through the Foundation, it was our opportunity to enable us to give back to the Philippines community and provide care in their honour even if they are far from home. The Dr. Moopen Foundation will continue to do its part to help those in need throughout the Philippines,” said Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare and founder of Dr. Moopen Foundation.
Through its “Care Beyond Boundaries” initiative, the Dr. Moopen Foundation and it’s associate entities, has been actively conducting CSR and charity works in the Philippines especially through its “Save the Little Hearts” programme wherein underprivileged children with congenital heart diseases have been given extended help to facilitate treatments. To date, 23 children had been helped with heart surgeries through the programme.
Coinciding with the launch of Dr. Aster Mobile in the Philippines, Aster DM Healthcare also inaugurated its first venture in the country – the Aster-Medical & Diagnostic Centre at Ortigas Centre, Mandaluyong City, Philippines. The new centre extends the reach of Aster DM Healthcare to Southeast Asia aiming to deliver quality healthcare services.
