Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 16, 2016: The Dubai Health Authority(DHA) launched on Sunday, a self-registration system for SAADA health insurance scheme for nationals in Dubai..
The launch took place at the DHA stand during the 36th GITEX technology week.
SAADA means happiness in Arabic and the scheme is one of the smartest insurance schemes in the world. It is applicable for all nationals in Dubai who do not benefit from any other Government funded health insurance cover. NEXtCare is the third party administrator selected for this scheme.
During phase one of the rollout, four kiosks will be available where nationals can go and self-register.
They can download the SAADA app that will inform users about the self-check kiosks that are closest to their location.
Using an Emirates ID card, nationals can self-register themselves. The process takes less than five minutes and users have an option of registering their family members as well. Once registered, they can use their insurance immediately and an Emirate ID card is sufficient. They do not need a separate insurance card.
Dr Haidar Al Yousuf, Director of Health Funding at the DHA, said: “The process is highly convenient, it is in line with the Authority’s smart health initiatives and aims to provide users with convenience. Once they register themselves, they can use the SAADA app, which has a plethora of useful features. They can even rate the service of their provider. If the rating is one, or two they need to provide a reason for that rating. Rating one and two will be registered in our system as complaints. We will then reach out to the provider and enquire about why the quality of service provided was not up-to-the-mark. The process is one of our mechanisms to help ensure patients have access to high-quality care. Eventually this is in line with our vision of making Dubai the best healthcare system in the world and convenience and benchmarking are important factors to achieve that.”
In addition to the ‘ rate your experience’ feature the other features of the SAADA app provides members with details of their policy and benefits available, claim status, how much insurance limit is available, detailed network of providers, list of providers close to any address the user enters etc.
Those who do not want to visit the kiosks for self-registration have an option of booking an appointment for registration via the website www.saada.ae or they can download the app SAADA that is available on all android platforms and book an appointment for registration.
