DEWA’s female badminton players take part in a friendly tournament with DHA to mark World Physical Activity Day 2017

Dubai, UAE, 6 April 2017:  DEWA’s female badminton players took part in a friendly tournament with Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) team to mark World Physical Activity Day 2017, taking place on 6 April each year, and being celebrated this year under the theme ‘Active People.. Happy People’. The two teams showed a lot of excitement and enthusiasm during the competition held at Dubai Stars Club.

DEWA is keen on promoting the positive energy culture instilled by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. DEWA encourages its stakeholders to take part in such events to acquire values such as teamwork, positive and constructive competition, while implementing them in the workplace.

Participating in various national and international events, DEWA Women’s Committee seeks to contribute to realizing the supreme goals of such events, and raising awareness on the issues they address.

During the World Physical Activity Day, DEWA’s female employees took part in the badminton tournament to highlight the importance of sports and physical activity among society members to ensure their happiness, tranquility and comfort. Sports benefits are not confined to the physical aspects only, however, as they have psychological dimensions also. This supports the Dubai Plan 2021 to make Dubai a city of educated, cultured and healthy individuals.

Sports improve the individuals’ mental, psychological and physical health, which reflects on their work environments and productivity. DEWA Women’s Committee fully supports the events in which the female employees take part. It encourages them to have regular exercises to enhance their lifestyle and achieve their happiness.

Bushrat Akhtar won the second position in the individual competition. In doubles, Mariam Ahmed Al Noukhada and Aisha Ahmed Shaheen came second, while Puja and Kaltham Al Ketbi came third.

DEWA has been recognised for cooperation and being part of the successful event. The winners were congratulated and rewarded for their distinguished performance.
