Abu Dhabi, 7 October 2015: Danat Al Emarat (DAE), the first private purpose-built women and children’s hospital in Abu Dhabi, has gone pink to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Those who visit DAE in October will notice pink lights reflecting from the five-story building, located between the two bridges (Bain Al Jesrain) area along Khaleej Al Arabi Street, and also recognize small touches of pink all around the hospital – in uniforms, T-shirts, badges and wristbands showcased by DAE’s female team of professionals who proudly demonstrate their support for the cause.
“DAE is committed to fight breast cancer and promote a healthy lifestyle for women in the UAE. Therefore we are proud to go pink to help raise awareness for such an important cause and also open the doors of our comprehensive woman diagnostic and breast imaging center to offer complimentary breast cancer screenings throughout the month of October”, announced Cheow Seng Lee, CEO at Danat Al Emarat Hospital.
Women are invited to call +971 2 614-9999 and book a complimentary visit with a physician for an initial assessment, followed by a mammogram if deemed necessary.
“Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the world for women. However if diagnosed early, it can be treated. It is extremely important for women to understand what breast cancer is all about, but also take it one step further and place self-breast examination and regular mammograms up there in their list of priorities, especially if they have a history of breast cancer in the family, or are over 40 years old. This simple act can help detect the disease in its early stages and ultimately save lives”, highlighted Dr. Gowri Ramanathan, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Services at Danat Al Emarat Hospital.
Besides all the activities going on in the hospital, including a couple of workshops scheduled for October 8 and 29, DAE will be involved in a series of initiatives related to breast cancer taking place in throughout the month.
“This year, DAE will manage the Pink Tent at TrainYAS on behalf of Daman. Every Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6pm to 10pm, members of our staff will be present at the circuit to share important information on breast cancer and show women how to properly self-examine their breasts and look for lumps”, said Cheow Seng Lee, CEO at Danat Al Emarat Hospital.
The hospital will also actively participate in the 2015 ADCB Zayed Sports City 5&10K Pink Run presented by Gulf Multi Sports on October 16. Besides acting as a Gold Sponsor for the event, DAE has entered 50 employees in the run to work up a sweat for charity.
“We are honored to be part of such a powerful worldwide annual campaign that has been successful in ensuring women are informed, encouraged and empowered to take action and detect the disease in early stages”, concluded Cheow Seng Lee, CEO at Danat Al Emarat Hospital.
