New York, December 19th – Today, Coach announces the launch of its global advertising campaign for the Spring 2018 runway collection with a series of images that capture the toughness and tenderness of New York City.

Artist Keith Haring’s iconic illustrations are at the heart of this season’s collection. Based in New York City, Haring had a democratic and accessible approach to art, and an ethos that Coach has long stood for: inclusivity. Coach’s iconic leathers are a natural canvas for Haring’s bold graphics.

The women’s ready-to-wear collection evokes a tomboyish femininity with antiqued crystals on sheer tees, satin bomber jackets with rose gold rivets and silk- and lace-trimmed slip dresses that sparkle and shine. These feminine and nostalgic elements are mixed with Coach leathers, shearling and glitter Western booties. Men’s is relaxed with soft suede jackets and outerwear contrasted with cheeky Hawaiian print shirts and Keith Haring graphics mixed throughout. Key bags of the season include the Bleecker backpack and Metropolitan Portfolio and, for women’s, the Camera Bag and the Mailbox—a re-edition of an archival Coach style first introduced in 1972.

“The further extension into ready-to-wear this season has been very much inspired by our Coach girl gang—the way that they wear, party and live in our clothes,” says Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers. “I love that sort of undone, unprecious glamour and sensuality—it feels very true to the house.”

Also new for spring is Signature—an iconic Coach pattern remixed for the modern girl and guy with a nostalgic feel—juxtaposed with Keith Haring’s artwork, attitude-packed Tea Rose rivets and bold hardware.

“With Coach Signature, I liked the idea of customizing it and making it into a canvas for something really personal,” says Vevers. “We’ve taken the familiar and subverted it with a downtown attitude—the unexpected juxtaposition feels very much for today.”

Coach worked with long-time collaborators, including photographer Steven Meisel, stylist Karl Templer, creative director Fabien Baron, makeup artist Pat McGrath and hair stylist Guido Palau.

The campaign consists of eight images and features bags, ready-to-wear, footwear, eyewear and watches, along with a short film featuring outtakes from the shoot, which will run on digital channels.

Keith Haring x Coach was done in collaboration with Artestar, an agency that exclusively represents Keith Haring worldwide as well as other high-profile artists.
