Dubai, UAE, July 28th, 2015: St. Mary’s Church Samaritans Ministry partnered with Canadian Specialist Hospital (CSH)and other institutions, to thank UAE’s labour workforce at an event held at Insportz Club. The event was aimed to show appreciation towards UAE’s ‘modern heroes’ by providing them with a day full of fun activities and entertainment.
CSH, one of the leading private sector hospitals in the UAE in terms of its quality healthcare services and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, supported the initiative as they facilitated free screenings for those who attended the event. The services conducted by CSH were body mass index (BMI) calculations, blood sugar and blood pressure screenings, as well as a vision test.
Dr. Haider Al Zubaidy, Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Specialist Hospital, stated, “We are delighted to have participated at this event and touched a community of these valuable unsung heroes. A large number of the labour workforce doesn’t usually visit hospitals for regular check-ups. However, everyone deserves proper healthcare and we are happy to state that our initiative has inspired the labour workforce at the event to adopt a healthy lifestyle.”
Other activities during the event included sporting activities like football, cricket and volleyball, team building activities, medical camp, bag of hope distribution, seminar on hygiene and health, music, and contests. Aside from partner organizations, parishioners also supported the event by providing gifts, meals, and bags of hope.
Labourers were all smiles as they embarked on the day dedicated for them. They lined up for free screenings as doctors and nurses checked their medical state and gave them suggestions on how they can improve their health.
“We are very thankful that they gave this day for us. I had a free screening with CSH. I don’t visit hospitals to have my check-up so I’m very happy that I had my blood and health checked for free today,” said a participating labourer who attended the event.
Dr. Zubaidy added, “We will continue to find ways to give back to the community. It is important for us to provide and give back to our labour workforce. On behalf of CSH, we are very thankful for these hardworking labourers: their commitment in giving their very best is commendable and we are more than happy to provide them with the healthcare that they need.”
Since its inception, CSH has been involved in CSR activities including the recently-concluded free health screening at the Ramadan Night Market held last 2-11 July at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Those who attended the event were given an opportunity to receive free health screenings from CSH’s doctors and nurses.
Also recently, CSH collaborated with ‘Operation Smile’, an international children’s charity that provides corrective surgeries to children born with facial deformities. Several CSH medical staff signed up to become volunteers with the charity organization which operates in various parts of the world.
Canadian Specialist Hospital provides a wide range of medical services and houses some of the most advanced surgical facilities in Dubai. Continuous development and investment in technology, medical expertise and support facilities have contributed to the hospital’s current stature as one of the preeminent medical institutions in the Middle East.
