amana-healthcareNovember 30th, 2016: United Arab Emirates – Dubai Health Authority and Amana Healthcare, a CARF- and JCI-accredited provider of specialized long-term acute care, post-acute rehabilitation, home transition and home healthcare services, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on medical care of complex long-term patients—with a particular focus on ventilated patients who need ICU-level care—and specialized post-acute rehabilitation of patients following stroke, trauma, major illness or major surgery.

The MoU between DHA and Amana Healthcare aligns with recent statements by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, about the UAE being keen on enhancing public–private partnerships (PPP) based on the principle of creating win-win partnerships, and providing a conducive environment to attract investments.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, said: “The DHA considers the private sector to be its partner in providing high-quality specialized and accessible care to the population. This collaboration with Amana Healthcare will help us provide specialized inpatient rehabilitation and high-quality long-term care for patients who have complex medical and rehabilitation needs. Rehabilitation is a highly specialized discipline and is of particular interest to us because of its impact on patients’ lives. For patients who have suffered a stroke or major trauma, high-quality rehabilitation often means the difference between independence and permanent disability. We are also looking into further ways of developing and expanding the services we provide in this field.”

Mark McGourty, CEO of Amana Healthcare, said, “We are honored to be signing this MoU with DHA today. Amana Healthcare was established with the vision to bring world-class, specialized medical and rehabilitation services to patients in the UAE. Partnering with DHA and aligning with the UAE’s vision of growth and public-private partnership allows us to accomplish our goal of providing every patient with the “right care, in the right setting, at the right time”, and working closely with DHA’s outstanding hospitals will allow us to meet our shared objective of improving the quality of people’s lives in the Emirate of Dubai.”
