Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 6, 2018: Al-Futtaim Automotive, the region’s pioneer in the automotive industry, had a strong presence at the Ajman 5th International Environment Conference, and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Ajman.

Al-Futtaim Automotive showcased a sizeable fleet of electrified cars from the various brands it operates in the UAE such as Toyota, Lexus, Volvo and Honda and presented not only its achievements in the sustainable mobility drive over the past 9 years but also its vision towards a decarbonized society through future technologies such as Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles.

As a keynote speaker, Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota said: “Our sponsorship of the 5th edition of this conference for the second time, comes is in line with our intention to continue leading the sustainable mobility in the UAE, as we aim to transform the country’s automotive landscape to one that supports a cleaner air quality and lower CO2 footprint”.

Abbasi reiterated that Toyota has a very strong heritage in developing sustainable cars, reminding that the brand has sold over 11.47 million Hybrid Electric cars globally, resulting in the reduction of more than 90 million tons of CO2.

He also shared the Group’s faith in the Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) solution saying: “HEV is a friendly green technology that anyone, anywhere in the UAE can adopt today to make a real mass scale difference on the environment”.

Taking place from 6th to 7th of March, 2018, this year’s conference will be an excellent platform to gain valuable expertise needed to contribute to current or future research on green practices, eco-efficient technologies, managing the carbon footprint, and supporting the expansion of environmentally friendly and sustainable initiatives.

Al-Futtaim Automotive is showcasing a variety of environmentally friendly vehicles, some available for customers to drive and some others that are being tested in the region to be introduced to the market in the future. Cars on display will include Toyota’s hybrid electric Prius and the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Mirai, Lexus’ hybrid electric RX h and LC 500 h and Volvo’s XC90 hybrid.
