Abu Dhabi , UAE , August 5, 2015
Abu Dhabi’s Officers’ Club and Hotel recorded an increase of around 15 percent in occupancy rates to nearly 80 percent in the first half of 2015 compared with the same period of last year, its deputy director general has said.
Peter Freeman said the level surpassed expectations and that it would remain high until the end of this year thanks to Eid holidays and numerous events to be hosted by Abu Dhabi.
He said the Club has succeeded in becoming a major destination for tourists and stressed the importance of the 2015 Abu Dhabi summer festival in stimulating business for hotels in the emirate.
“We are pleased to organize several events within the festival to attract more visitors and boost Abu Dhabi’s image as a major tourism destination,” he said.
He said the Club had prepared attractive offers for the guests until September 1involving competitive room rates at Dh400 per night and 20-50 per cent discounts on food and beverages, SPA services and other facilities for those who make advance bookings for the summer season.
He revealed that the Club is again organizing a summer camp for children aged between five and 13 years during July 26-August 27.
“We have also devised an ambitious plan to intensify our promotion activities abroad, mainly in China, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America and our traditional markets in the Gulf and Europe,” he said, adding that the plan is in collaboration with Etihad Airways.
Mr Freeman noted that Abu Dhabi has become a major destination for tourists and delegates attending conferences and exhibitions thanks to its advanced infrastructure, stability and competitive hotel and service prices.
He reported a large increase in the number of online bookings at the Club following the signing of 25 agreements with travel agencies in Europe and Asia, adding that such agreements have boosted the Club’s share in the regional and global market.
He noted that the Club’s location near Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Yas Island, which includes Ferrari and Water World has turned it into a key destination for foreign tourists seeking entertainment and cultural activities. He also paid tributes to Etihad, which he said controls a network of 85 flight destinations worldwide.
Mr Freeman expected the construction of two major museums on Saadiyat Island, the Louvre and Guggenheim, to give a push to tourism in Abu Dhabi, adding that this would further boost occupancy at the Club.
