Abu Dhabi’s Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Clinical Council holds its first meeting

In attendance of over 18 representatives from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center and expert oncologists

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi’s Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Clinical Council held its first meeting which was presided by Dr. Fatema Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Programme. The meeting was attended by a prestigious group of experts and oncologists from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) and other public and private healthcare entities in the Emirate and from abroad. This follows the recent announcement by DoH, recognizing Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC), an affiliate of Pure Health, as a Center of Excellence in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in the Emirate.

The meeting covered discussions on oncology care and stem cell transplantation services in Abu Dhabi and concluded with recommendations on the best clinical practices based on scientific evidence, while facilitating access to world-class bone marrow transplantation services in Abu Dhabi. The meeting also tackled the use of the latest technological advancements in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and aimed to explore more opportunities to support healthcare facilities, conduct clinical trials, and receive international accreditations.

The Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Clinical Council is composed of 18 members, representing several entities, most notably from Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, VPS Healthcare, in addition to international consultants carrying a wide range of international expertise in the field from esteemed entities such as the United Kingdom’s National Health Service, Harvard Medical School, and Boston Children’s Hospital.

As a Centre of Excellence for bone marrow transplantation, ADSCC provides integrated and specialized range of surgical and non-surgical clinical services equipped with world-class healthcare quality for patients who need hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including autologous stem-cell transplantation.
