The Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau’s (ADCB) United Kingdom team has concluded a month of special events targeting the business travel market to promote Abu Dhabi as a leading event and incentive destination.

The promotion kicked off with a special Abu Dhabi event in partnership with Jumeirah Hotels and Etihad Airways, which was attended by His Excellency Sulaiman Hamid Almazroui, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the United Kingdom. The event allowed 24 MICE buyers to meet with senior Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau representatives and stakeholders, whilst receiving a destination update on new attractions, hotels and event spaces.

Buyers were treated to an evening of Arabian entertainment and food within the Grosvenor House Suites by Jumeirah Living, located on London’s famous Park Lane. Interactive stations allowed guests to create their own perfume and watch a calligrapher create personalised name cards.

The United Kingdom ADCB team then attended a UK sales mission with ADNEC and Hala Abu Dhabi, meeting with event buyers across the UK in London, Bournemouth and Manchester, providing an overview of the role ADCB can play in bringing events to the emirate and how they can assist planners with free and impartial advice.

Attendees at the Manchester event were hosted in a corporate box at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium ground for the football club’s game against Watford, which provided the backdrop to a presentation by stakeholders.

The United Kingdom market is the third largest for Abu Dhabi, registering a 6% rise in 2018 from 2017 figures to more than 277,000, ensuring the market remains the top European source market.
