Ajman all set for 5th International Environment Conference
‘Climate Change & Sustainability’ Summit to host 70 experts from 30 countries
Ajman, UAE, February 22, 2018 – With few days left, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department is geared up for the fifth edition of the Ajman International Environment Conference.
The two-day event, themed: ‘Climate Change & Sustainability’, is to be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman.
The leading gathering, to be organized at the Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibitions, Ajman University, on March 06-07, 2018, is to see the participation of 70 researchers and experts from over 30 countries.
Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, said they are putting the final touches of the environmental scientific conference.
“The biennial congress is aimed at being up to date with the latest developments and updates in the field of biological environment.”
The international conference is to witness 70 scientific papers – covering all the conference themes, from 30 countries spanning Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, he added.
“A number of speakers and participants from the UAE and the region are going to actively chip in the conference as well.”
Sheikh Rashid Al Nuaimi said the conference focuses on five key themes: adaptation to climate change, climate change and sustainable cities, biodiversity and climate change, global and local best practices, sustainability and innovation.
“These are all in line with the outcomes and recommendations of the Climate Change Conference in Paris.”
The 5th edition of the conference, along with the preceding four summits, are to put Ajman on the map of international forums and conferences, and to promote the ‘Ajman 2021 Vision’, he elaborated.
“The unique gathering will showcase interesting presentations by the most prominent innovators and experts in environmental issues worldwide.”
This conference; now one of the major events in the country, has seen a significant increase of 30 per cent in the researches received for this edition as compared to earlier editions, he underlined.
“To benefit more from the experts’ presentations, four parallel sessions will be concurrently held on the second day.”
Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, said the Science Target Inc, the renowned academic publisher headquartered in Canada, is to assume the scientific aspect of the conference.
“They used the finest and most accurate systems in selecting the Scientific Committee that includes experts from the international journals it publishes on sustainability, engineering, planning and land management,” he said. “The participating experts represent prestigious international universities.”
Al Hosani, who is also Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Conference, said they also selected the keynote speakers for the conference sessions and participants of research papers, he stated.
“They are also to assess the specialized environmental researches submitted, and produce a special issue of the International Scientific Journal under the conference name, including the best 20 researches presented.”
Eng. Al Hosani said the Committee has already received over 400 research papers from 49 countries around the globe. “The best 70 papers of these have already been decided on.”
