Share

Try the healthiest food in town and discover more about the cruelty-free lifestyle, Saturday July 21st, Rove Healthcare City

Join us for the third event presented by Dubai Vegan Days – a special vegan brunch prepared by Rove Hotel (Healthcare City) in collaboration with plant-based chef Zendy Marsam.

Zendy is a successful food blogger (@FlavorsbyZendy) and recipe developer, internationally renowned for her stylish and flavoursome take on vegan recipes.

Now you can have the chance to try her incredible dishes – which are easy on the eye and the stomach. She cooks without meat, and brunch-goers will have the opportunity to taste some stunning courses made without oil, and others are gluten-free. Zendy is also an experienced raw chef, with some menu items retaining all their nutrients by being served raw.

The aspirational chef said: “It’s been fun collaborating with Rove Hotel Healthcare City to create this delicious vegan brunch. My menu for the event is a range of dishes which include oil-free, raw vegan and gluten-free options. I guarantee all of them are extremely tasty and satisfying, too!”

The event runs from 12noon to 3:30pm at the stylish, urban Oud Metha hotel’s Daily restaurant, a large, airy venue where the Dubai Vegan Days’ community has already hosted two highly successful events.

Dubai Vegan Days is the brainchild of Will Rankin and Ananda Shakespeare, both of whom share a desire to spread understanding regarding veganism and plant-based lifestyles.

Co-organiser of Dubai Vegan Days, Ananda Shakespeare, said: “The level of support for our concept – bringing like-minded people together to enjoy good food and good company in a relaxed, cool setting – has been phenomenal. The Rove understands our idea, but getting Zendy on-board lifts the cuisine to the next level. We highly recommend booking!”

Will Rankin added: “I’m a massive foodie, literally and figuratively, and I’ve had the pleasure of tasting Zendy’s food once before. I’ve been trying to taste it again since. As a vegan herself, she knows what makes good food, and her passion for great ingredients, coupled with a definite flair for stylish presentation makes every dish one you will remember for a long time to come!

“Chef Sunil and his kitchen team at Rove already do a superb job in adapting their menu to suit vegan tastes, but add in Zendy’s passion and knowhow, and we feel this cuisine deserves your attention. If you don’t try her food, you’re missing out!”

AED99 will get you a Rove salad buffet, and choice of main course and dessert curated by Zendy.

The main course dishes on offer include some exciting options from Zendy’s repertoire: a raw pesto lasagne, Indonesian rendang with coconut pandan rice, a beetroot and wild rice burger, and ginger ramen with soba noodles.

Desserts on offer are raw chocolate tart with raspberry coulis, a mango cheesecake with passion fruit and a fresh fruit bowl. Rove’s signature drinks, tea, coffee and alcohol are all available at the brunch, too, at additional cost.

Zendy will also present a demonstration on how to prepare fresh jackfruit – a trending vegan ingredient in 2018, and there will be a selection of products available from carefully-chosen vegan vendors.

With growing interest in plant-based, vegan and cruelty-free lifestyles, there are an increasing number of vegan-based products and restaurants on offer in Dubai. Dubai Vegan Days is a chance to bring the food, the vendors and the ideas all together.

Whether you are a die-hard vegan, a fan of Meat-Free Mondays, or simply ‘v-curious’, head over to the Rove Healthcare city next Saturday for an exciting, tasty and healthy brunch.

Did you know?

1. Vegans do not suffer from a lack of protein. There is more protein in broccoli than beef. Lentils, spinach and almonds are also protein-packed and contain other great nutrients too. You simply do not need to consume meat to get protein. Other vitamins and minerals that are widely and easily available to vegans include Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C.
2. Vegans are not pale, weak people. Athletes and Olympians are increasingly adopting a vegan lifestyle – Carl Lewis, Venus Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Jermaine Defoe, David Hayes are all vegan. There are thousands of others.
3. The list of famous and influential vegans is enormous, including: Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Beyonce, Alicia Silverstone, Ellen Degeneres, Joaquin Phoenix, Woody Harrelson and Casey Affleck.
4. Vegan food is not bad food. Apart from hundreds of medical reports and surveys discussing the benefits of a plant-based diet, there are thousands of easy, quick, healthy tasty vegan recipes to try. Dubai’s restaurant scene also has a number of vegan outlets, and many fine dining establishments now offer a vegan menu. Just ask!
