The New Year is a wonderful time to make a commitment to being kinder to ourselves. Leading busy lives, we can often overlook the simple things that make us happy and more productive. If becoming more Mindful is one of your New Year’s Resolutions this year, or you are looking to enhance your Wellbeing and live with greater vitality, The LightHouse Arabia are offering insightful and interactive workshops to Discover Your Light on Saturday 28th January, 2017 from 10:00am until 5:00pm at their Center for Wellbeing on Al Wasl Road, Al Safa 2, Dubai.
Discover Your Light is a full day of interactive wellbeing workshops and informal discussions facilitated by The LightHouse Arabia’s team of qualified and experienced psychologists. The day is suitable for anybody who wishes to explore the lighter side of psychology and gain direct experience of the ways Positive Psychology can enhance their Wellbeing.
Psychology is not always about putting out fires. Especially in groups, it is often about redesign and inspiration. Why wait until there’s a ‘fire in the house’ to ask for help, when you may just have a desire to expand the house, to renovate and redecorate?
Children from ages four and above are also welcome to attend, and will be able to engage through special kids-only workshops and activities. Children younger than four will be able to have fun in a Little Kids Zone. Discover Your Light is designed to be a fun and inspirational day – motivating participants of all ages to create a rich and satisfying 2017.
Discover Your Light encompasses 19 different workshops that are repeated throughout the day across a variety of key areas critical to living a balanced, authentic and fulfilling life. Each workshop is presented in multiple sessions throughout the day and is facilitated by The LightHouse’s team of Psychologists.

‘Art Therapy and Play Keeps Problems Away’
Draw, paint, create and have fun! Learn new ways of feeling and expressing emotions. Facilitated by Ross Addison. 1.5hrs. Suitable for kids and teens 10+.
‘Baking for Mindfulness and Serenity’
Improve mental focus, positive thinking and overall wellbeing through creative baking. Facilitated by Dr. Nida Hussain. 1 hr. Suitable for kids ages 4-8 and 8-12.
‘Discover the Light of Your Inner Child’
Gently reconnect with your inner child to become more aware of your true self. Facilitated by Karen Anne Hope Andrews. 1 hr. Suitable for adults 17+.
‘Healing Through Meditation’
Experience the balance and calming of emotional, mental, and physical blocks through a healing meditation of your energy centers. Facilitated by Madeeha Afridi.
1 hr. Suitable for adults 18+.
‘Eating Mindfully’
Round table discussion and activities for developing mindful relationships with eating, health and body issues. Facilitated by Reem Shaheen. 1.5 hrs. Suitable for adults 17+.

Tools for improving communication, connection and wellbeing in your relationships. Facilitated by

Preparing children emotionally, socially

‘Yoga for Emotional Balance – Active
and Restorative’

In this one-hour yoga session explore the connections between your thoughts, your emotions and your how you hold and move your body. Learn how to help yourself best meet emotional and mental states like low mood and anxiety. Facilitated by Briar Jacques.
Suitable for adults 18+. Limited to 8 people.
‘Gratitude in Everyday Life’
Awaken gratitude for health and happiness within yourself and in relationships with others. Facilitated by Dr. Tara Wyne. 1 hr. Suitable for adults 18+. Limited to 8 people per session.
‘My Calm Down Strategies’
Help your child to learn to calm themselves within and with others. Facilitated by Joao Lourenço. 1 hr. Suitable for children 6-10 yrs.
‘Smart Heart Board Game (life-size) Room’
A fun game for parents and children to learn to identify and express emotions together. Facilitated by Christine Kritzas (SHBG Creator). 1hr. Suitable for kids and parents.
‘Positive Discipline Strategies for Parents’
Strengthen your family bond through positive and nurturing parenting techniques. Facilitated by Joao Lourenço.

‘Pure Postnatal Pilates’
Functional physical health, healing and self-care for postnatal women. Facilitated by Pure Fitness (TLH Partner). 1 hr. Suitable for postnatal women (6wks; regular birth, 10wks; C-section).
‘Pure Midriff Crisis’
Feel 40 and fabulous with a practical understanding of hormonal, physical and emotional changes. Facilitated by Pure Fitness (TLH Partner) Suitable for new mothers and  women 35+.

Practical, empathetic health and wellbeing techniques to recharge you and your family. Facilitated by Pure Fitness (TLH Partner). 1 hr. Suitable for new mothers.

- A Self-Compassion Stand to explore effective self care
- A Values and Vision for 2017 Stand – to explore your key values for this year through art and craft

- A Parents Corner (where parents can relax and discuss parenting facilitated by member of The LightHouse team.)
- An Adult Chill Out Zone in The LightHouse garden to chat, reflect and relax
