H.E. Humaid Al Qutami, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) felicitated pioneering mental health professionals at the 13th International Mental Health Conference.
The three-day conference, organized by the Emirates Society for Mental Health, will discuss the latest advances in the field of mental health. It will focus on the field of psychiatry and psychology and discuss challenges, latest treatment methods and emerging trends in the field.
According to World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is a ‘state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’
Al Qutami emphasised the importance of this field and discussed the need to tackle the stigma that globally surrounds mental health issues.
He highlighted that DHA pays strong emphasis to mental health, which is importance for the wellbeing of the society.
Al Qutami said that in 2018, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) launched the Mental Health Strategy for the emirate. The strategy known as Happy Lives…..Healthy Community is Dubai’s first comprehensive mental health strategy and is applicable across all public and private health entities in the emirate.
He added that the strategy demonstrates the commitment of the DHA to build a world-class healthcare system to meet the needs of its residents.
