On this day every year, we reflect on one of the many key values we’ve carried over from the legacy of our late Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan: the act of giving, sharing and kindness. During his lifetime, Sheikh Zayed pursued every opportunity in helping the underprivileged. Thanks to his efforts, the UAE has become an incubator for humanitarian work and tolerance and is one of the main contributors of humanitarian aid worldwide.

Our wise leadership continues to follow the footsteps the late Sheikh Zayed in supporting humanitarian efforts globally. The leadership’s efforts in combatting the global COVID-19 pandemic reflect the UAE’s commitment to support other nations. The UAE’s contribution accounted for 80% of the international aid that went to countries that were struggling with the spread of coronavirus. The UAE established the Emirates Humanitarian City to receive, treat and support members from other countries during the pandemic. Our nation also harnessed its advanced infrastructure and the leading capabilities of the healthcare sector to preserve the health and safety of individuals everywhere. The UAE provided laboratory testing services to several countries, participated in clinical trials of vaccines, drugs and scientific and clinical research. Additionally, Abu Dhabi rolled out a robust system for vaccine transport, storing and distribution through the Hope Consortium. The consortium supported in the distribution of 260 million vaccines to more than 60 countries around the world.

Our country has represented its core values and global stance that is based on kindness and lending support to those in need. We will continue to live by and apply the learnings of our late founding father – servicing people and the creation of a better world will remain a priority to the UAE.
