It is my great honor and pleasure to be here with you at the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Summit.
When it comes to healthcare, in particular, quality is not a nice-to-have element it’s a must-have element.
Improving the quality of care has been the mission of healthcare systems around the world to ensure patients’ safety, improve care delivery and enhance clinical outcomes.
This year, more than 500 international experts and leaders from around the world have come together in Abu Dhabi to share their initiatives, experiences, views, and recommendations to boost the quality of care in their own health ecosystems and around the world.
Under the “The Future is here” theme, the summit is set to prepare us all for the future of healthcare that is driven by healthcare technology, life sciences, innovation, and more.
Here in Abu Dhabi, we have always believed that our ability to provide exceptional healthcare services is limitless, inspired by our wise leadership who have proven to us that nothing is impossible and that we must continuously strive to improve the quality of healthcare not just for today but for future generations.
Over the past two years, we have unified our efforts to respond to a global pandemic that is proved to be the biggest event in our lifetime. During the pandemic, it became evident that health is not a standalone sector, it affects all other sectors in any society.
Abu Dhabi delivered an outstanding response model while maintaining the highest quality of care provided to patients in the emirate. Today, the emirate topped the world globally as a leading city for its response to the pandemic.
A key enabler of this response was digital innovation.
Malaffi, the first comprehensive platform for Health Information Exchange (HIE) in the world, was launched in 2019, and it now connects 100% of our hospitals and 97% of clinics and centers and it captures 98% of healthcare transactions across the sector.
It is the first platform to globally achieve the connection of almost every licensed healthcare facility delivered in a record time of less than three years, which is a testament to our proactive efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system in Abu Dhabi.
Moreover, Malaffi cements Abu Dhabi’s position as the frontier of advanced digital health technologies and solutions regionally and globally.
Abu Dhabi is an innovation hub in healthcare. It is actively seeking the most advanced services, treatments, healthcare technologies, and innovations to constantly improve the efficiency and quality of the healthcare sector not only for its population but for the global community.
