The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) recently received a high-level delegation from the United Nations at the DHA headquarters.

H.E. Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority received the delegation headed by HE Philippe Douste-Blazy, Under-Secretary-General and Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General on Innovative Finance for Development.

Al Qutami highlighted that the UAE is known for its humanitarian efforts and that the DHA is committed to cooperate with the UN on various humanitarian projects.
The two sides discussed the framework for cooperation on humanitarian issues such as ways to support the UN’s global programme on chronic malnutrition and other programmes such as vaccination and public health. The DHA discussed supporting the international cancer database. The two sides also discussed DHA’s experience with regard to health regulations and the use of information technology in healthcare.

Al Qutami said that Dubai has its unique model for health and that it fully supports humanitarian initiatives in the health sector and pertinent projects such as UN’s Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.

Douste-Blazy praised the progress of the United Arab Emirates and the rapid development in Dubai, pointing out that Dubai has been able, in a short time, become the world’s most developed and prosperous cities.

He highlighted that cooperation between international institutions and organizations and the Dubai Health Authority will significantly benefit the United Nations Development Programme, particularly those related to disease prevention, public health and other initiatives aimed at reducing the spread of chronic diseases.
