Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Arabic edition of The Nicholas Effect, titled “Athar Nicholas (The Nicholas Effect)”, has been newly released, bringing to Arab readers one of the most influential humanitarian stories in the history of organ donation.

The book documents the globally renowned story of Nicholas Green, a young boy whose tragic death became a turning point in public awareness and legislative attitudes toward organ donation. Through the courageous decision of his parents to donate his organs, multiple lives were saved, and a powerful societal movement was sparked, particularly in Italy, several European countries, and the United States.

Written by Nicholas’s father, author and journalist Reg Green, the book transcends personal loss to present a universal message about generosity, compassion, and how a single ethical decision can create lasting humanitarian impact beyond borders.

The Arabic translation and editorial adaptation were undertaken by Dr. Bassam Darwish, health media consultant and producer and host of Balsam on Noor Dubai Radio and Television. The Arabic edition was carefully developed to reflect Arab and Emirati cultural values while preserving the emotional and ethical essence of the original work.

As a distinctive addition, the Arabic edition includes the story of Emirati citizen Salem Hamad Al Mansouri, whose noble decision to donate organs embodied the spirit of humanitarian giving and earned him recognition from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This inclusion highlights a national role model and reinforces organ donation as a profound act of life-saving solidarity.

The book also features dedications and forewords that emphasize the deeper human meaning of organ donation, affirming that true legacy is not measured by lifespan but by the moral weight of decisions made at moments of truth. In this sense, The Nicholas Effect stands as an enduring message that transcends time and geography.

Dr. Bassam Darwish received a message of appreciation from Reg Green, who expressed his pride in the Arabic edition and commended the effort to convey the book’s humanitarian message to a new cultural audience while maintaining its original integrity.

The release of “Athar Nicholas (The Nicholas Effect)” aligns with broader awareness initiatives to strengthen public understanding of organ donation, promote a culture of altruism, and highlight the life-saving impact of this decision—consistent with the humanitarian and health-focused vision of the United Arab Emirates.
