Achievement during participation at the Ideas Arabia 13th International Conference & Competition 2018

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) won the ‘Global Winner 2018’ award during its participation at the Ideas Arabia 13th International Conference & Competition 2018, which was held under the theme ‘Spirit of Innovation.’ The event witnessed Dubai Quality Group and its Ideas Arabia subgroup honor winners from various categories of the competition.
The Ideas Arabia Competition 2018 highlighted the innovations and creations developed by employees and individuals that were implemented by the organizations to achieve quality results over the past year. The Conference is the largest platform in the Gulf and the Middle East to share innovative ideas and best practices to support innovation and sustainable growth across all sectors.
The achievement came after MOHAP’s won at the Ideas UK Annual Conference, where the Ministry received the award for the best idea in the field of customer focus & won the ‘BEST IDEA OF THE YEAR 2017’ award among all winning ideas from all categories & won Global idea of the year among all ideas submitted from Ideas America, Ideas Germany, and Ideas UK.
The winning idea is about a design of a device that monitors and measures heartbeats of patients and sends messages to five different parties and determines the location of the patient o be provide immediate medical care and attention if heart rate readings are abnormal. The device was designed by Eng. Rehab Al-Ahmad, a computer engineer at MOHAP.
H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, commended the new achievement, emphasizing that MOHAP will continue to support innovation and innovation ecosystem to achieve UAE vision to become one of most innovative countries in the world and to build sustainable future for the its generations. He added that innovation enhances the country’s competitive position in envisioning the future; building national capabilities; strengthening international partnerships and; developing innovative laboratories, as part of its unique journey towards achieving the UAE vision 2021.
H.E. Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention said that the Ministry’s success in the competition is a new achievement that reinforces the culture of innovation and enhances confidence in performance efficiency. It is a clear achievement of the national innovation strategy launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world by 2021.
Dr. Aisha Al Mutawa, Director of Strategic and Future Department and Chief Innovation Officer at MOHAP, said that this achievement comes as a result of the joint efforts by the Ministry with the wise leadership’s support in developing effective channels to attract and develop innovative ideas and implement them. The Ministry seeks to reach the forefront of health innovation through the development of its innovative ideas based on global standards assessment, modeling and scientific research in their adoption and development.
This achievement also demonstrates the existence of an environment that empowers and encourages employees to share their ideas, provide unique and innovative solutions, and promote excellence and leadership. The Ministry is keen to support innovative ideas, encourage ideas and suggestions, and honor the best suggestions and innovations on a regular basis.
