October, Abu Dhabi, UAE: This November, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, the luxury shopping and dining destination, is gearing up to welcome friends and family ahead of the 2017 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a different kind of track. Children are invited to come and meet the young Emirati professional race car drivers Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi for some inspiring tips and to test their driving skills at the specially formulated children’s driving track at The Galleria.
From Thursday, 16th till Saturday, 18th of November, children aged 4 to 11 will be offered complimentary driving classes before suiting up for a “driving test” on the children’s pedal car driving track. A dedicated children’s arts & crafts area will also be set up where kids can test their creative skills with clay car moulding, mug drawing & painting, and car themed colouring.
On Thursday, 16th of November, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Amna and Hamda will start their engines with the little ones, giving them a jump start on mastering their racing skills.
Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi commented: “We are honored to be part of The Galleria’s Children’s Driving School. Such initiatives help young and aspiring drivers understand the importance of following traffic rules in a fun way. Giving children driving tips is a big reward for us; it makes us feel extremely happy when we see the smiles on their faces. We encourage drivers to follow traffic rules for both their own and public safety. Thus, this initiative is aimed at engaging the Abu Dhabi community and the UAE as a whole in a fun and engaging way. With this initiative, we hope to act as role models for the younger generation of drivers, both current and those aspiring to take up driving in the future.”
Charles Martinez, General Manager of The Galleria, said: “Our primary focus is to create offerings for all the family to enjoy during their visits to The Galleria. We are thrilled to offer the children’s driving track experience and to be engaging with young role models such as, the Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi sisters during the Formula 1 period.”
Children will be briefed on road safety and will be given a lesson on road signals and signs before putting their four-wheel theory to practice on the dedicated paddle car driving test outside on the stunning waterfront Promenade at The Galleria. With driving times up to twenty minutes, children are able to get to grips with putting their wheels in motion. All participants will take home their very own driving certificate from The Galleria after revving their mini-engines on the specialised circuit.
