Abu Dhabi, UAE: The capital city of Abu Dhabi is hosting the sixth edition of the Emirati Doctor Forum, which is being held both virtually and in person in conjunction with Emirati Doctor’s Day, celebrated annually on March 11. The forum is organized by the Emirati Doctors Initiative in partnership with the UAE Medical Leadership Program and the UAE National Medical Readiness and Response Program “Jaheziya.” The event brings together leading healthcare leaders, Emirati physicians from both the public and private sectors, and social entrepreneurs in the health sector.

The forum aims to honor Emirati doctors and highlight their scientific, professional, and humanitarian contributions to society. It also seeks to promote a culture of excellence and innovation in the healthcare sector and support the continuous development of the healthcare system in the United Arab Emirates.

The Emirati Doctor Forum serves as a national platform that brings together healthcare leaders and medical professionals to discuss the future of healthcare in the UAE, exchange expertise, and showcase inspiring success stories of Emirati physicians who have contributed to advancing healthcare services and strengthening the country’s readiness to respond to emergencies and disasters.

The program included a ceremony honoring the winners of the Emirati Doctor Award and presenting the Emirati Doctor Medal to frontline heroes in recognition of their achievements and outstanding contributions to the healthcare sector.

Award Winners, and Launches Four Initiatives

During the forum, four initiatives were launched:

  • The first initiative is a leadership development program aimed at preparing a new generation of young medical leaders across various medical specialties.
  • The second initiative is the Artificial Intelligence Physicians Program, which aims to develop Emirati medical professionals capable of utilizing artificial intelligence technologies to enhance early diagnosis programs and health awareness initiatives.
  • The third initiative is the “Walk with Your Doctor” Program, designed to strengthen the relationship between physicians and their patients by organizing regular walking events that promote community awareness and encourage physical and mental well-being.
  • The fourth initiative is the “Family Doctors Program,” launched in conjunction with the Year of the Family in the UAE. The initiative aims to train Emirati physicians in family medicine through advanced training programs accredited by the American Academy of Family Physicians, in partnership with the UAE National Medical Readiness and Response Program (Jaheziya).

The initiative seeks to strengthen the primary healthcare system and empower Emirati physicians to provide community healthcare services through mobile clinics and mobile field hospitals operating across the UAE. The initiative will be implemented in collaboration with the UAE Volunteer and Reserve Medical Team, further promoting the culture of medical volunteering and expanding access to community healthcare services.

Dr. Adel Abdullah Al Shamry Al Ajmi, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Chairman of the Emirati Doctors Initiative, and President of the Jaheziya Program, stated that Emirati Doctor’s Day represents a national occasion to celebrate Emirati physicians who embody dedication and commitment in serving the community. It also serves as a platform for innovation, creativity, and launching initiatives that empower Emirati doctors to serve society and give back to the nation.

He added that Emirati medical professionals have played a pivotal role in advancing the healthcare system in the UAE and strengthening its readiness to respond to health challenges, disasters, and emergencies, thanks to the support of the country’s wise leadership under His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who has enabled Emirati doctors to obtain the highest scientific and professional qualifications and provided them with the resources needed to innovate and contribute to society.
